The Maine Technology Institute today announced two changes to its leadership team:

Suzanne Hamlin has been appointed interim Director of MTI’s Business Ventures Group, the team that assists technology ventures with a variety of grants and loans. Hamlin currently heads the Transformative Knowledge Group, a Portland firm that provides a wide variety of business analysis and planning. She has been working with MTI since 2004 as a member of the SBIR/STTR Technical Assistance Program group which has been responsible for helping Maine businesses secure over $85 million in SBIR/STTR funding from the Small Business Administration.

Her direct industry experience includes retail, direct marketing, medical products, manufacturing, banking, and insurance, as well as a broad range of non-profits, and she has consulted heavily in all seven of Maine’s target technology sectors. Hamlin holds a BSE in Computer Science from Princeton University, with honors, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Joseph Migliaccio has been appointed Director of Business Development and will lead MTI’s targeted effort to expand MTI’s funding opportunities for technology development with early, and later-stage, ventures. Joe has been with MTI since its founding in 1999 and served as the Director of the Business Ventures Group. He is well-connected in Maine’s entrepreneurial community, and serves on the Blackstone Accelerates Growth leadership team.

Joe came to MTI from Idexx, where he worked as an assay development project leader in R&D, supervisor of global technical support, and managed a multi-million dollar line of tests and equipment. He holds a BS in Biology from the University of Southern Maine, and earned his MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.

“I am very excited about these changes in our leadership team,” said Robert A. Martin, President of MTI. “Both Suzanne and Joe have tremendous breadth and experience in Maine’s business community. Their insights and strategic thinking will continue to propel MTI’s success in expanding our technology-intensive enterprises to create strong ventures which attract highly-skilled talent and pay high wages.”

The Maine Technology Institute is the state’s industry-led, publicly-funded technology venture fund that offers a variety of funding programs to help startup and established companies develop and commercialize innovative technologies.
