Maine Technology Institute welcomes Vanessa Frey and Catherine Marin as new team members to work with the Business Innovation Program team specifically with Development Loans. They both will focus on sourcing investment opportunities, organizing the due diligence and evaluation process and advising and monitoring companies in the Business Innovation Program with emphasis on the Development Loan portfolio. Development Loans are direct investments in companies that have high potential to pioneer Maine’s future through their technology innovations in any of Maine’s seven targeted technology sectors. Development Loan recipients are companies undertaking research and development of new products, services and processes that will enable them to grow and remain competitive in the global marketplace.
Vanessa joined MTI from Boston where her career spanned the non-profit and private sectors, including management consulting at McKinsey & Company and developing strategic partnerships for the Boston-based tech company Gazelle.com. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Dartmouth College and an MBA and Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan. She lives in Brunswick.
Catherine joined MTI with more than twenty five years combined experience in university research, manufacturing engineering, and finance. Prior to relocating to Camden in 2007, Catherine was Manager, Corporate Business Development at Ford Motor Company in Michigan. Catherine earned an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and a graduate degree in industrial engineering and management science from Northwestern University. In 1999 Catherine received her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a focus on economics, strategy, and entrepreneurship.
