$23M in state grants awarded to Maine technology companies

(From Mainebiz) As part of the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan, MTI recently awarded $23.3 million through the PRIME Fund. Phase 1 of the the program resulted in 174 grants to companies to aid recovery from the pandemic, invest in new products and business lines, attract new customers, and sustain long-term growth. Proposed Maine Spaceport gets $1.2M federal boost toward liftoff

(From Mainebiz) The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded $1.2 million in grant funding to the Maine Space Grant Consortium for final planning around workforce development, business development and external engagement needs for the Maine Spaceport. South Portland startup uses tech to connect tourists, guides, off the beaten path

(From Mainebiz) Maine startup, NaviTour recently launched an online platform connecting independent tour guides and visitors to the state. The South Portland company is focused on broadening visitor experiences outward from congested tourist areas to rural communities, as well as increasing diversity among the people taking and leading tours. Using lobster to ease the itch from browntail moth

(From News Center Maine) Marin Skincare has developed a cream from lobster waste that helps repair the skin barrier affected by psoriasis, shingles, sunburns, and even the rash caused by the browntail moth caterpillar. MTI provided the startup with initial funding and support. Read more »

$15M in state grants awarded to bolster Maine seafood dealers, processors

(From Mainebiz) Seafood dealers and processors received over $15 million in new grants from the state to help increase the supply of Maine-harvested seafood, strengthen the companies’ ability to deliver to markets, and adds jobs throughout the seafood industry. Businesses in every coastal county received awards. MTI administered the program on behalf of the Maine Department of Marine Resources. Read more »
