Spring Updates: Startup Maine Week, Life Sciences Center Updates, and More

As the saying goes about March weather – in like a lion out like a lamb – and that certainly seems to be the trend and a most welcome one at that!

March also happens to be busy with events and opportunities. First and foremost, we are excited to announce we will once again partner with Startup Maine Week (Monday, May 19-Thursday, May 21) to bring you an MTI portfolio company expo and networking event on Tuesday, May 19 from 4:30-6pm. If you are an MTI Portfolio company and are interested in exhibiting, please apply here by April 15. Space is limited for exhibitors, but we will do our best to accommodate all MTI portfolio companies that wish to exhibit. Stay tuned for more announcements from Startup Maine Week in the coming days about all the other events happening throughout the week, including an in-person Maine Accelerates Growth (MxG) session and several presentations featuring MTI staff.

We have canceled MxG this week as we know many of you will be attending the North Atlantic Blue BioTech Summit. We look forward to seeing you at the Summit and again at next month’s MxG on Thursday, April 16.

Finally, we are pleased to announce the Governor has approved the initial slate of eight members to the Life Sciences Center Advisory Board. Two seats remain intentionally open to allow flexibility as priority initiatives take shape. Initial members include the following: Jay Mohr (NYBC Ventures / New York Blood), Karen Houseknecht (University of New England), Tamara St. Claire (MaineHealth), Margaret Angell (ElevenTwo), Mike McKernan (The Jackson Laboratory), Melissa Maginnis (University of Maine), Sarah Delmar (Chair) (Maine Life Sciences), and Mike Duguay (Ex-Officio) (DECD). The Advisory Board’s first convening is scheduled for April 2.

With spring right around the corner, we look forward to longer sunshine-filled days and to seeing you all in person in May!

Until then, be well.
