New Year, New Opportunities: Funding Updates, Upcoming Events, and What’s Ahead at MTI

Happy New Year from all of us at MTI! I hope you had a pleasant, peaceful holiday season and time with friends and family.
We are looking forward to a productive and impactful 2026. We have been diligently working our way through the excellent MTAF 3.0 applications and will start the year announcing those funding awards. Stay tuned for those announcements which should come out by the end of this month.
Since January tends to be a time for planning, we thought we’d share some MTI-sponsored events coming up in the next few months starting with the Maine Outdoor Economy Summit coming right up in Portland January 21-23. January is always a good time to remember to go outside, and this event is sure to inspire you to do so and to understand the opportunities, challenges and innovations happening in our fast-growing outdoor recreation economy. The Maine IDeA Bioscience conference, hosted by MDI Biological Laboratory, unites researchers, data enthusiasts, and innovators and is scheduled for February 27-28 on MDI. The Maine Fishermen’s Forum at the Samoset in Rockport will be held March 5-7, and March 25-29 is the Maine Science Festival at the Maine Discovery Museum. We are proud to sponsor all of these (and other) events. If you have an event that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in Maine, visit the MTI website to learn more about our sponsorship criteria.
Finally, we are looking for a Director of Finance and Administration. If you think you might be a good fit for this position, or know someone who might be, please feel free to share this listing with them.
We look forward to seeing you at some of the events in the coming months. In the meantime, stay warm in these chilly temps!
Best,
Brian
