Desenvolvimento de Ecossistemas de Inovação
A competitive grant for organizations whose programs strengthen the pipeline and quality of Maine’s innovation-driven companies.
Purpose
The Innovation Ecosystem Development Program exists to strengthen the pipeline and quality of Maine’s innovation-driven enterprises (IDEs) — companies whose innovations meet MTI’s Business Innovation Funding eligibility criteria — in MTI’s seven targeted technology sectors. That means both more such companies forming and entering the sectors, and existing ones growing stronger and better able to scale. A program may advance either side of this and need not do both.
Where much of MTI’s funding goes directly to companies, this program invests one level up, in the organizations whose programs serve those companies. The clearer and more direct a program’s connection to innovation-driven companies in the sectors, the stronger the fit; work that supports the wider Maine economy without a clear line to those companies is a weaker fit.
Who it’s for
Organizations that run programs helping Maine’s innovation-driven companies form, grow, and scale — whether by working with those companies directly or by strengthening the ecosystem they depend on. Both new and established organizations are welcome. Organizations not based in Maine may apply, but all funds must go to Maine-based work benefiting IDEs in the state.
