This Startup Aims to Swap Blood Draws for Saliva Samples

The privately held company has raised $1.6 million in seed financing, according to a fact sheet provided on its website.

(Reprint from TECH.CO 8/9/2017) – Portland, Maine-based biotech company Abogen, founded in 2012, has developed a method and accompanying technology to extract blood cells from saliva, allowing for the potential replacement of up to 80 percent of the five billion invasive, needle-necessary blood samples drawn annually.
