Introduction to Maine PTAC and SBIR with MTI

Date: September 17, 2019

Time: 9:30 - 11:30 AM

Where: Upstart Center 20 Godfrey Drive, Orono

Thomas White, Maine PTAC Counselor, has joined forces with Maine Technology Institute’s SBIR consultant Karen West and Shane Beckim, Investment Officer. For this workshop they’ve taken to the road, traveling to Orono’s Upstart Center for Entrepreneurship. Thomas will introduce the Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center and how their team can assist you and your business with government contracting. Thomas’ main focus is registering a company in the System of Award Management; the first step in applying for a Small Business Innovation Research or Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Grant. He’ll then turn it over to MTI’s Karen West and Shane Beckim, who will discuss the ins and outs of the SBIR/STTR program. SBIR/STTR is a research and development program that awards contracts and grants to small businesses for early stage, high risk research and develop for innovating new products, services, and processes. Eleven federal agencies participate in the SBIR/STTR program. MTI works with firms to identify SBIR opportunities and assists in developing competitive applications for Phase I and II funding. Please register early so our experienced team can review your profile in advance. After the presentation, Maine PTAC and MTI will stick around for individual break-out sessions. If interested, please contact either Thomas White at [email protected] or Karen West at [email protected].
