John Muir once wrote, “Spring work is going on with joyful enthusiasm.” Consistent with Muir’s words, the Maine Technology Institute is eagerly working and making preparations this spring for two highly anticipated summer events in the innovation ecosystem.
First, the staff and board are finalizing arrangements for TechWalk 2015 – MTI’s annual opportunity to celebrate the success of its programs and showcase its impressive portfolio companies. Based on the feedback from last year’s TechWalk, this year’s event will resemble the “MTI Mixers” of the past and will be largely focused on networking and fun. Our portfolio companies will be on hand to display and discuss their products and TechWalk attendees will be regaled with stimulating conversation, musical entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. So, please plan to join us for this enjoyable networking opportunity.
This year, we are especially pleased to partner with the incredibly successfulMaine Start-up & Create Week (MSCW) in Portland as TechWalk 2015 will be a featured kick-off event for MSCW. TechWalk will take place on June 22nd from 4P – 7P at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, followed immediately by the MSCW launch event at the same venue.
MTI will also hold a Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Regional Summer Sessionconference at the Clarion Hotel in Portland, Maine on Thursday, July 16, 2015. The SBIR/STTR program is a critical funding opportunity for Maine’s technology-related businesses and the Regional Summer Session provides entrepreneurs and businesses with an opportunity to meet with sevendifferent federal agencies to learn more about their respective technology initiatives and to increase the likelihood of garnering federal funding.
On behalf of the MTI Board of Directors and staff, I hope you will join us atTechWalk 2015 on June 22nd, Maine Startup & Create Week (June 22 – 28), and the SBIR/STTR Regional Summer Session on July 16th.
And, finally, happy spring!
Best,
Brian Whitney
