Fueling the Region’s Economy (EMDC)

Please Join EMDC as we welcome the Maine Science Festival to the Bangor Region once again!    Learn from MSF Board members Linda Silka and Ben Sprague the impact of the festival in our region and how this STEM education is fostering our next generation!

The mission of the Maine Science Festival is to stimulate interest in science among the general population, to heighten awareness of the impact of science on everyday life, and to demonstrate the diversity of scientific enterprise in Maine . STEM education both formal and informal, will help stimulate the expansion of current and the creation of new scientific business enterprises in the Bangor region.

The MSF has brought together Maine’s premier, nationally renowned science organizations for the first time under one roof: The Jackson Laboratory, MDI Biological Laboratory, Bigelow Laboratory, and the University of Maine. The MSF has partners from throughout the state of Maine from Fort Kent to Kennebec (over 90 in 2015).

As we are faced with mill closures and other transitions in the Bangor region , we expect the breakfast will be an opportunity for the business community to hear from festival organizers and presenters about the potential for STEM education to propel an important sector of the Bangor region’s future economy.
