Reflecting on 2025: MTI Updates, Impact, and Season’s Greetings

I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving and are gearing up for other festive holiday celebrations over the next month.  Speaking of the holidays, this year we have revived the MTI holiday gift guide to help you support innovative Maine businesses and entrepreneurs, and get your shopping done! Last month, on November 13th, we closed out the application period for the $25 million in available funding from the Maine Technology Asset Fund 3.0 (MTAF 3.0) program. The review and evaluation process is underway now. 113 applications were received seeking $127 million in aggregate funding. If all goes as planned, we hope to announce the awardees prior to the end of January, 2026. 

Finally, as this is the last eNewsletter of the year, we want to thank each of you for another amazing year at MTI and for your continued interest, collaboration, and innovations. Together, we continue to move Maine’s innovation economy forward, creating economic opportunities and quality jobs for Mainers throughout the state.  

As we close out 2025, I leave you with a few high level impact statistics for the year and my very best wishes for a safe enjoyable holiday season shared with your family and friends.

• In FY25, MTI utilized its core Business Innovation Funding program to make 307 awards totaling $8.04 million. We also deployed the last sizable chunk ($7 million) of Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan funding.
• Since its founding in 1999, MTI has now disbursed $387 million across 4,350 distinct projects throughout Maine, and that funding has leveraged well-over $2.2 billion in private sector matching investment.
