February 25, 2013

(MTI Press Release, 2/25/2013) –  MTI is introducing Cleantech Open Northeast to Maine through two events on February 28th and March 5th. At these forums, MTI will announce its partnership with the Cleantech Open, the world’s oldest and largest accelerator program for clean tech start-ups. This collaboration will build on the work already being done by E2Tech and the partners in the Maine Business Incubation System like Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development and the University of Maine’s Foster Student Innovation Center.  It will leverage resources outside the State for Maine’s entrepreneurs and startups working in the clean technology sector.

“MTI has long been a leader in funding Maine’s clean technology entrepreneurs and we welcome this Cleantech Open opportunity for Maine companies to have even greater success in the future.” says Bob Martin, President of Maine Technology Institute. The first Maine Cleantech Open presentation will take place on February 28th from 7:15 am – 9:30 am at the Wishcamper Center, 34 Bedford Street, at the University of Southern Maine in Portland as part of E2Tech’s Clean Tech Forum.

On March 5th at 6:00 pm MTI is sponsoring the monthly PubHub event at Casco Bay Tech Hub, 30 Danforth Street, Portland.  Ben Polito of Pika Energy LLC, a Cleantech Open regional finalist in 2012, will chat about Pika’s experience and Alexandra Alder, Cleantech Open Northeast Executive Director will be present to talk about this year’s competition and benefits to companies who participate. MTI funds Maine entrepreneurs and companies who engage technology to develop innovative products and connect them to resources to help them grow profitable enterprises.
