  • Economic Growth and Impact (25 points),
  • Scientific or Engineering Merit and Feasibility (25 points),
  • Team and Institutional Merit and Commitment (20 points).
Click here for the application written review form. The highest of the scored and ranked applications will be moved to the interview phase.

Interviews

Applicants will be invited to interview in person before a panel to address issues raised in the written review process and field questions from the interview panel. During the interview, reviewers will score and then rank order applications according to the following criteria:

  • Scientific or Engineering Merit and Feasibility (25 points)
  • Team and Institutional Merit and Commitment (20 points)
  • Economic Growth and Impact (25 points)
  • Relevance to Maine's Innovation Economy Needs (15 points) and
  • Collaboration (15 points).
The interview panel is comprised of AAAS-recruited experts from outside the State of Maine, who will score applicants on the first two criteria above: Scientific or Engineering Merit and Feasibility, and Team and Institutional Merit and Commitment. MTI Board members and experts with knowledge of Maine's innovation economy and research needs, selected by the MTI Board, will score applications on the last three criteria above: Economic Growth and Impact, Relevance to Maine's Innovation Economy Needs, and Collaboration.

Subsequent to the interviews, AAAS will create a new rank ordered list of the interviewed applicants, based on the external and Maine reviewers' scores, and provide a written review for each application. AAAS will then forward to the MTI Board the new rank ordered list of applications that best meet the stated goals and criteria of the program.
