About the Development Award
Since 1999, the Development Award program has provided early-stage capital toward some of Maine’s most innovative products, processes and services.
Development Awards fund up to $100,000 (Technology Transfer R&D) or $50,000 to $500,000 (Corporate R&D) per application for research and development of new and/or enhanced products, processes or services leading to commercialization. All projects must fall under one of Maine’s seven targeted technology sectors:
· Advanced Technologies for Forestry and Agriculture
· Aquaculture and Marine Technology
· Biotechnology
· Composite Materials Technology
· Environmental Technology
· Information Technology
· Precision Manufacturing Technology
Eligible projects include prototype development and testing, patent applications, small scale manufacturing, and scale up for manufacturing with limited production.
The next deadline for Development Award application is: February 9, 2010, by 5:00 p.m. (Applications received after 5:00 p.m. will not be accepted.) Notification of Awards: June 15, 2010 (subject to change).
