Marine Research Fund
In an effort to help Maine become a nationally recognized center for marine research, MTI is administering the Marine Research Fund (MRF). Awards from $25,000 up to $500,000 are available to Maine's non-profit organizations, laboratories, state governmental and quasi-governmental agencies and academic institutions to fund infrastructure and equipment needed to conduct high-quality, scientifically rigorous marine research programs that will have positive economic impact on the state of Maine. Private Maine companies can collaborate with these institutions as partners in proposed projects.
Proposals will be evaluated on scientific merit, the impact of the project on the applicant organization and the economic benefit to Maine. The $4 million dollar fund is a part of a bond issue approved by Maine voters in 2005.
