Director of Finance and Administration 

MTI seeks to hire a Director of Finance and Administration. This is a critical role within MTI, responsible for hands-on management of all financial and accounting systems; HR functions; facility and resources, including IT; and maintenance of a number of key professional relationships. The Director plays an important support role to MTI’s statewide client companies, working closely with the Business Ventures staff. MTI has a staff of ten employees, works with a pool of consultants, and interacts with a number of State agencies including the Department of Economic and Community Development. The successful candidate will participate in program evaluation and development; prepare and present periodic performance reports; serve as a member of the management team to the Blackstone Accelerates Growth initiative; and participate in strategic planning and mission execution.

Portfolio Manager II

MTI seeks to hire a Portfolio Manager to fill a vacancy within its Business Ventures group. The successful candidate will play an important role in developing early-stage growth companies, both within MTI’s current portfolio and as future applicants. A major focus of the position is to administer and facilitate the Development Loan program. The Manager will be responsible for 30-50 companies with active awards or loans, at varying stages of completion. You will work closely with portfolio company executives, owners or managers to monitor progress toward completion of project goals. Not only will you administer awards to portfolio companies, you will also serve as a mentor to clients to help advance projects to successful commercialization and connect them to other, appropriate service providers, agencies, organizations or financing sources. Other duties include outreach; promotion of MTI and its programs; and the promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation within Maine.
